We purchased a 10" mitre saw with a stand that had wheels thinking it would be perfect to move around when needed. After using the 10" for a while we realized that it was quite awkward and a little heavier than we thought so we bought this 7-1/4" Dewalt mitre saw. On top of being approximately 65lbs lighter it has performed flawlessly so far and has plenty of power. I do a lot of shelving with 12" boards and the only thing is that I need to flip the board to complete the cut but honestly that's the only thing we find that could be frustrating for some people but it has absolutely no effect on me. I'm using a Dewalt Power Stack 5ah battery and in the last week I've used the saw a total of 12 hours without any problems. Depending on the level of work you do I think this saw is more than sufficient for all trim, 2x4's etc..., and all shelving. I highly recommend this saw. It came in the original box and I checked it out thoroughly and it clearly had not ever been used. On a 45, I can cut right around 5-7/8". This saw was a great addition for me, as I'm constantly working in places away from a simple power source (my generator is a beast and not easy to transport). It cuts cleanly, hasn't bogged down yet (even on wet 2x6 treated), and is super light and easy to transport. **Q: I see the vertical max is 3 5/8, but could this cut 4x4 lumber?** A: No not with one cut. You would have to turn the 4x4 over. Blade is a 7 1/4" diameter, same as a hand held circular saw. From the tip of the teeth to the edge of the washer (at center of blade) I get 2 7/8". **Q: What is the difference between the dcs361b and the dcs361m1?** A: M1 is the tool kit meaning tool battery and charger B is tool only **Q: How well was this product packaged? Did anyone experience damage during shipping? I don't usually buy heavy items like this on-line. Thanks.** A: The saw was sufficiently packaged to protect it during shipping. I got mine in perfect condition. The manufacturer's packaging took care of most of the protection, and I'm pretty sure it was over-boxed as well. Hope this helps, and enjoy the saw. I haven't had a ton of use from mine yet, but have done several smaller projects with just a few cuts and have been pleased with the performance (it's not a cheap toy) and ease of handling.
