The two sizes are useful. I didn't like the wooden needles. This is a nice, small, lightweight loom that I use for tapestry weaving while I'm riding in the car or just want to do a small project at home. I've used both of the looms that come with this kit for several projects and they're pretty darn sturdy for what you pay. The tools work well.
