Review: Perfect for me - This has been a great tool for me. I have a small lawn (less than a quarter acre) that I mow with a reel mower. Sometimes things will get a little too overgrown for the reel mower, due to rain or travel keeping me from mowing for a bit. Before I got my grass whip, I had to call a contractor to come mow the lawn for me to get it back to the point where I could do it myself. Now I just get a little extra exercise taking down the high weeds and get back to mowing. The True Temper is far lighter than I expected; I was a little nervous that I would have some aching muscles after wielding it, but in fact it's so well-designed and lightweight that I finished the back lawn without even meaning to do the whole thing because it was so easy to use. The cutting edge, as some others have mentioned, is not terribly sharp, which I think is a benefit rather than a drawback. I'm not terrified putting it in places where my 4-year-old could conceivably encounter it. I haven't had any problems with it not cutting - the key seems to be to wield it quickly. And, since it's so light, I can swing it like the wind and slash through all of my weeds without a problem. I will note that it doesn't work as well on shorter weeds. I tried going back to clear out some weeds that I had already cut down to a lower height, and while it still managed to cut through some of them, that was rougher going. For anything that's maybe a foot or so of growth, though, it's been wonderful. I would absolutely (and already have) recommend this to anyone wanting to take down weeds too high to deal with otherwise. Given the choice, I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. For the price and the effectiveness, it's a steal.

**Q: Is it good for a tall person ? 6'3" ?**
A: To be honest, this model is just too fragile for any significant weed whacking use. Mine bent (half-way between the bottom of the handle & the angle in the metal) from moderate use. That happened twice and now it is only good for thin grass. They just don't make them like they used to. It's about the length of a 9-iron. But, infinitely weaker metal.

**Q: Would this work on thick ivy?**
A: Mine pulled off the handle within days of starting to use it in my yard. If handle wasn't broken, you would have to sharpen it for ivy.

**Q: anybody know the difference between this & those where blade is attached at both ends (sometimes called 'weed cutter')? Is one better than t'other?**
A: I'm not quite sure what you mean by blade being attached at both ends. Sounds scary (*smile*).  In case you weren't tracking, this has serrated edges on both sides of the blade (left and right) and is also referred to as a weed cutter. I'm quite satisfied with this product.

**Q: Does this come with blade cover?**
A: It does not come with a cover. 
As an aside, I’m 6’1” (in my 60’s) —- I don’t use this much because it’s too short and I have to bend over to use it —- it strains my back.

I got this to help keep hiking trails cleared. It works pretty well - certainly faster and easier than a machete. It cuts through most weeds and grass. It will also cut through blackberry bushes with a little extra effort. However, there are some types of clump grass it will not cut. Overall, I am pleased with the grass whip. I would recommend wrapping the handle with some sports tape to make it easier to hang on to. It does get a little heavy after a while if you are doing a lot of clearing but it is easy enough to carry through the woods. The length is fine for me - I'm 5'2". I would think a much taller person would have to bend a bit to use. I am generally happy with the purchase.
