Review: Authentic Looking Security Camera - I believe that a fake security camera is an effective crime deterrent provided the camera itself looks like a real security camera. Initially, I purchased the Dummy IR Bullet Camera which had great reviews but immediately returned it after deciding the hard plastic housing wasn't authentic looking. Thereafter, I researched more thoroughly and purchased this camera and am satisfied since everything represented in the product description is true. It consists of an aluminum housing, heavy duty metal mounting bracket, stainless steel adjustment screws, and is easy to adjust up, down, left, and right so you can point it just where you want it. The wire itself is an actual insulated metal wire, not some cheap hollowed out piece of plastic. It is more expensive than many of the fake cameras you see out there (about $45 with shipping) but you essentially get what you pay for and I think the price is reasonable. It also comes with a sticker that states "Closed Circuit Television on Premises", but it doesn't suit my preferences so I'm going to look for an alternative. This camera does not have a blinking light but I have read that real security cameras are generally unobtrusive and don't typically have the "notice me" blinking LED light. For those of you willing to spend a little more money for an authentic looking security camera, this should suit your needs. However, I advise that it be mounted at a height that is out of a persons reach (about 8 feet). Also, if you need multiple cameras, order just one of these to ensure it meets your requirements since everyone's preferences vary. Don't get the idea that a camera is the only crime deterrent you need. Hardening the entry points such as reinforcing your door jambs, windows, garage doors, and upgrading your locks is also a good idea. It is very easy for someone to kick in your door if the door jamb is not reinforced, even if you have a deadbolt lock. Don't open your doors to strangers and keep those doors and windows locked. Review: poor quality... no camera optics visible so its easy to tell its fake if you look closely. Ok for great distance. - The wire is flimsy... and hard to attach so it looks real. Also, if you look close... you can't see through the glass... and you can tell its fake, because there is no LEDs or camera optics visible.
