## Description

2013 album from the Swedish Metal quartet. Many bands play it safe. Hardcore Superstar don't. They had the guts to marry two styles that grew up hating each other - Thrash Metal and Sleaze Rock. The former hard, aggressive and ugly, the latter catchy, melodic and decadent. The bastard child's name? Street metal! C'mon Take on Me is produced by the band and mixed by no less a figure than Randy Staub (Metallica, Mötley Crüe, the Cult), slapping you in the face like a highly-energized slab of Crüe and Poison.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐

It's not their best, but the album still rocks hard and furious

Swedish band Hardcore Superstar released their ninth studio album "C'mon Take on Me" in 2013. The album sees the band return after a three year absence with the butt-kicking hard rock we all know and love. The album is definitely a solid slice of Swedish “street metal,” but I couldn’t help but feel that there was a little unevenness with this album over previous efforts."C'mon Take on Me" follows the formula that Hardcore Superstar has perfected over the last decade or so: crunching guitars, great choruses and riffs and tremendous Swedish melody. The record does tend to move up and down some of the time, but it never deters too much to make you think the album is weak. You undoubtedly have some of the bands best and most creative work on the record with songs like "Above the Law," "One More Minute," “Because of You” and “Too Much Business.” While other tracks like "Are You Gonna Cry Now" and “C’mon Take on Me keep the album flowing quite nicely, and rocking hard throughout. This album is another terrific addition to your “street metal” collection, and it reaffirms my belief that Hardcore Superstar are second to none when it comes to making killer melodic hard rock music in the 21st century.I absolutely recommend this album to all fans of the band and melodic rock tunage; there are some areas you may think sound like filler, but give it a couple spins and you’ll see it’s all killer baby! “Split Your Lip is still my favorite record from these guys, but “C’mon Take on Me” is definitely a fun and enjoyable hard rock record like they made in the old days.

"Half as good as I'd like..."

Swedish sleaze metal act Hardcore Superstar return with their ninth studio album, C'MON TAKE ON ME. The album continues the catchy hooks and guitar riff anthems the band have been known for on such tracks as, "One More Minute", "Above The Law", and "Won't Take The Blame", but the well starts to dry out from there. The production on the album is top notch, and the band continues to blend a multitude of influences into their sound, but this album just comes across as too much filler. "Are You Gonna Cry Now?" is probably one of the heaviest tracks on album and one of my favorites. The two slow tempo songs on the album,"Stranger Of Mine" & "Long Time No See" continue to showcase Berg's vocals and Zino's fine guitar work. 6 out of 10 stars because half of this album still kicks ass!!!
