## Description

Logitech G400s Optical PC Gaming Mouse 4000 DPI Delta Zero Optical Sensor

Review: YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! - So, I am a relative newbie to the quality computer mice industry. I have owned a couple of "gems" over the past year or so including a gearhead wireless mouse from Wal-Mart. It worked great for about 2-3 months, but being a wireless mouse, I noticed that the tracking and sensitivity began to suffer. Being that I am a fan of World of Tanks MMO, I couldn't settle for such a lack of performance, so I jumped on my trusty old website friend, desertcart.com, to see what I could find. I would like to mention that I carried an desertcart Prime Membership for about a year in college, so I am a huge fan of the internet mogul and what they represent. This was all after trying an E-3lue Mazer Type-R from NuEgg.com as well that, quite simply, failed before I even pulled it out of the box. So, I jumped on desertcart.com and punched in computer mice to find more than 700,000 hits pahah, and after a quick narrowing of search results to reveal only Logitech devices, I was left with roughly 100 mice to consider. Now, I planned on spending roughly $40-$50 on a mouse with the hope that I'd finding something that'd last, and I am confident that the G400s I found, purchased, and have used for about 2 weeks now is just what I was looking for. The packaging alone screams quality and high attention to detail; however, with marketing expertise/business background, I know that with such a striking package display comes a significant cost as well. So, I'm not sure such was necessary and this could have saved me some money in the end. Flamboyant packaging aside, the mouse itself is what's important here. I bought it with 3 key features in mind:4000 DPI Delta Zero Optical Sensor, Long-life buttons rated to 20 million clicks, 8 programmable buttons. From what I can ascertain after just 2 weeks of use, is that Logitech delivered on their product and then some. The mouse is comfortable (like a glove), the tracking and DPI range is flawless (like a GEM), and the programmable buttons (and easily accessible software) are a great balance for the average person. Trust me when I say downloading the software from the website and configuring buttons, sensitivity settings, macros, polling rate and multiple profiles is simple, and efficient. (I set mine up with 3 differing user profiles in just 10 minutes). So, what is the overwhelming takeaway from it all? For under $50, I was able to acquire a mouse that's COMFORTABLE, CUSTOMIZABLE, and built to STRICT QUALITY STANDARDS. Time will tell if the buttons hold up to a behemoth size 20 million clicks, but first impressions speak volumes with people, and I am confident this mouse from Logitech will deliver on its promises!! Logitech G400s Optical Gaming Mouse P.S. It seems like this model may be a bit "dated" or past maturity in its "product life cycle", but I would strongly urge you to consider buying this for just that reason as you will get it for a great price as seemingly "newer" models with minimal improvements will phase this mouse out of the market. I.E. ~ GET IT WHILE IT'S HOT, BEFORE IT'S GONE!!!
Review: So far, so good! - I bought this mouse a month ago as a replacement for a 2-year-old Razer DeathAdder that crapped out on me spectacularly. During this review, I'll mostly be comparing it to the DeathAdder since that's the mouse I bought this to replace. PROS + Feels extremely well constructed, MUCH more so than my old mouse. + External materials don't attract grime and sweat; I had to clean my old mouse off on an almost weekly basis, but haven't had to do so with the G400s. + Good weight balance. Has some heft without being excessive. + Tracks well on my SteelSeries mousepad. + On-the-fly sensitivity adjustment (or 2 extra button functions) is always nice. WASHES = Mousewheel. Objectively, it's very responsive and has a great grip...but I actually prefer mousewheels with more float that don't "lock" into certain positions. I can't really fault the mouse itself for this though, and I'm sure I can adjust. = Seems designed for smaller hands than mine. The DeathAdder's hand position felt naturally comfortable, but this has taken a little adjusting to. CONS - Small forward/back buttons compared to the DeathAdder, and at a slightly awkward position. - The cable, as so many others have said. It can't be compared to my old, braided cable for even a moment. - Mouse drivers seem excessively large. OVERALL: I've sworn by Razer for many years, but I'm very glad I changed to the G400s instead this time around. The complaints I have are minor and/or features I am still adjusting to, and I haven't run into any glaring defects worth docking a star over. This definitely feels and looks like a mouse which will last for 20 million clicks...and it'll be a lot of fun getting there!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How big is the mouse. I don't care about the size of packaging.**
A: Its a slightly larger mouse but it feels great for those who curve grip the mouse

**Q: Is this a practical office use mouse that has a few extra buttons or a heavy duty gaming mouse?**
A: "practical office use mouse that has a few extra buttons" For office use and basic use the side buttons come in handy, This is not a heavy duty gaming mouse but is a basic gaming mouse ...

**Q: I currently have the MX 518. Anyone have a comparison in both use and size? I have smaller hands and have a heck of time finding a gaming mouse.**
A: not sure about mx 518 but the g400s is very narrow an long fits my hands perfectly and I have medium size hands

**Q: how does its size compare to the G502 Proteus Core which I've seen at Best Buy? My grandson is 14 and wants a little bit smaller mouse than some.**
A: I bought a G502 and returned it, this mouse is better all around and really only lacked 1 extra useable button compared with the 502.
My aim greatly suffered with the 502 because of the narrow width of the mouse. My grip was poor but I do have large hands so maybe the 502 is better for a 14 year old.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 10/10 would buy again
*by K***E on November 18, 2015*

I love this mouse. It's a throwback to the very first gaming mouse I'd ever owned when I was 12, and it's a faithful reproduction with just the right amount of improvement. Some gaming mice on the market look as if they have been designed in a laboratory for non-human hands. They'll allow you to change the weight, shape, size - everything. To me, this is just another distraction to prevent you from being completely focused on the game, and I place more value in the consistency that a static configuration provides. The shape of this mouse is as close to perfect as it gets. It's not too ridiculous, but provides enough contour and comfort for accurate gameplay for hours on end. The weight of the mouse is great, and the button configuration is true to the original; the ability to change DPI on the fly is critical to my gaming and web browsing experience. It is coated with a material that provides a good amount of grip without giving the mouse a rubbery feel, and the feet slide very well over my aluminium mouse pad. Overall, I would highly recommend this reboot of a classic mouse to anyone that is serious about gaming. The other mice on the market seem a bit gimmicky when it comes to shapes, configurations, and personalization options. This is about as advanced as a mouse needs to be, with just the right amount of buttons, and a contour that fits your hand well but isn't overbearing.
