A pre amp would amplify the signal produced by the mic - in theory a good pre amp might amplify the signal better - with less noise. This is a lightweight portable mic which feels robust when holding in hand which sounds amazing. Now I am not an audio expert but for me the sound quality produced by this mic is definitely amazing. Although I have not heard of this brand, but the sound quality, material quality and the quality of wire which comes standard with this mic( XLR -> TRS) is undoubtedly of really good quality material.
