This cable extends the usb 2 port on the side of your computer to some point 9 feet away. usb 3 equipment is built to operate with a usb 2 port at the old slower speeds. If your computer has only usb 2 ports this cable will be as good as you will get. If you are using a usb 2 device this cable is as good as you will get. If your computer has usb 3 ports and you are using an usb 3 device this cable will result in a large speed loss. **Q: Will this charge my iPad Air 2?** A: I'm not familiar with the electronic needs of i-devices, whether they require specific cords.
