Ideal for professionals charging from untrusted USB sources without compromising speed or security. ## Description Following the success of our Data Block USB cables, Data Blocker USB Adaptor released in 2013 and the 'SmartCharge' Data Blocker released in 2015, we've now released our latest update. The 3rd Gen PortaPow Data Blocker still connects to the end of your USB charging cable and allows you to charge your device safely with no risk of viruses / hacking, and incorporates our SmartCharge chip to send the correct charging signal for your device, which can even improve charging speed if your charger is sending the wrong signal. It still has the same compact size so it won't block neighboring sockets if your charger/computer has several side by side. Improvements include visible security, laser etching, zero waste packaging and a string lasso. The blocker will not solve charging issues caused by a low quality or extra long cable, a low powered socket (eg some car sockets) or a device which requires a non-standard signal (eg some SatNavs / DashCams). In these cases please use a different charger or cable. Devices which charge using Qualcomm Quick Charge, Samsung Adaptive Fast Charge, Motorola TurboPower or similar standards require data transfer to be enabled and a compatible charger, and so will not charge at extra fast speeds from normal USB sockets or with a data blocker. ## Features - Attaches inbetween your USB cable and socket to physically block data transfer / syncing while charging. - Allows charging without any risk of hacking / uploading viruses, can charge from an office PC even if USB socket has been disabled without breaking IT policy. - PortaPow's SmartCharge chip automatically switches between Apple, Universal and Samsung standards to ensure compatibility with your device. - SmartCharge supports charging upto 2.4A so the blocker won't slowdown charging and can improve charging speed in some cases. - 2 year warranty ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B00QRRZ2QM | | Best Sellers Rank | #105,846 in Computers ( See Top 100 in Computers ) #7,022 in USB Cables | | Brand | PortaPow | | Color | Red | | Compatible Devices | Android, Smartphone, Tablet, iPad, iPhone | | Connector Type | USB | | Current Rating | 2.4 Amps | | Customer Reviews | 4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars (1,785) | | Finish | Matte | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00766897526329 | | Input Voltage | 12 Volts | | Item Dimensions | 9 x 6 x 1 centimeters | | Item Weight | 9 Grams | | Manufacturer | PortaPow | | Mfr Part Number | PPSCA01 | | Model Number | PPSCA01 | | Number of Items | 1 | | Number of Ports | 1 | | Package Quantity | 1 | | Power Plug Type | Type G | | Specific Uses For Product | protection against juice jacking when charging devices from untrusted USB ports | | UPC | 766897526329 | | Unit Count | 1.0 Count | ## Product Details - **Colour:** Red - **Compatible devices:** Android, Smartphone, Tablet, iPad, iPhone - **Connector type:** USB - **Item dimensions L x W x H:** 9 x 6 x 1 centimeters - **Specific uses for product:** protection against juice jacking when charging devices from untrusted USB ports ## Images ![PPSCA01 3rd Gen Data Blocker - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71hFRhYly-L.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Color, Size** options. ## Questions & Answers **Q: Can anyone confirm 100% that this will allow an iphone to charge off a usb port without having the iphone driver installed.** A: Its a data block... 100% NO USB DATA CONNECTION! So absolutely no need for a any data modifications on the USB host... **Q: Iā€™m having an issue with no sound coming from my phone when I charge it in the car from the USB port. I read somewhere that this might help. Yes?** A: If the problem is that you're plugging your phone into your car to charge, and your phone is detecting your car as an "audio out", then it is at least *possible* that this may solve your problem. But even some devices can detect that "something is plugged in" even if the data port is blocked. A better solution is to figure out how to change the audio device on your phone. If it's android, you can select "charge only" when plugging into USB. Ultimately, even if this device doesn't solve your problem, it's still helpful to have as a security device. **Q: does this actually block data from being sucked from your iphone and/or from data/virus being inserted into iphone? does it also chagre?** A: That's what it's supposed to do, yes. I bought it to be able to charge an old iphone from a VW Jetta USB port that was not compatible with the phone and it works fine for that. As far as I can see, it basically passes through the 5v connections and has no data connections so there would be no way a virus could be passed through it or data could be "sucked" out. Of course it also means you can't download photos or sync your phone or anything like that - all it does is let you charge. So, basically, it turns a computer USB port into a non-smart charger. That also means it charges slowly at 0.5A whatever the port or charger rating, because higher charge rates are negotiated between charger and phone, which requires data. **Q: Does this work with iPhone 8 and 11?** A: Yes. This has worked with all of my phones for the past 4 years including my current iPhone 11 ## Frequently Bought Together - PortaPow USB Data Blocker (Red) - Protect Against Juice Jacking - PortaPow USB-A to USB-C Data Blocker - PortaPow USB-C to C Data Blocker - Protect Against Juice Jacking --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - šŸ›’ **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** ā€” Serving international shoppers since 2016 - šŸŒ **Shop Globally** ā€” Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - šŸ’° **No Hidden Fees** ā€” All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - šŸ”„ **15-Day Free Returns** ā€” Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - šŸ”’ **Secure Payments** ā€” Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ā **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** ā€” Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.pt/products/254612274-ppsca01-3rd-gen-data-blocker](https://www.desertcart.pt/products/254612274-ppsca01-3rd-gen-data-blocker) --- *Product available on Desertcart Portugal* *Store origin: PT* *Last updated: 2026-11-07*
