## Description

Apple 2020 Mac Mini with Apple M1 Chip, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD Storage - Silver (Renewed)

Review: Practically new, Powerful, and a GREAT DEAL! - I got a KILLER deal on this computer for current market prices. The M1 is still a powerful beast in today's computer world. I'm a techie / PA student deep into research... I keep 30 Chrome tab groups open, Canva, YouTube Music, Notability, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Complete Anatomy (3D rendered anatomy app), and God only knows what else open at a single time and the 8 gigs of RAM handles it flawlessly. I've never had this much snappy response out of a Windows machine. When I got this desktop in, it was practically brand new looking, looks super clean, and fired up on a dime. It's a perfect setup! I couldn't be more happy, and I'm posting this nearly a year later, so this machine is still conquering!
Review: A very nice little desktop computer, especially if you prefer the Apple ecosystem - This is my second Mac Mini M1, purchased specifically to interface with my HF HAM radio, and I'm as happy with it as I am with the first unit I purchased back when it was introduced. Setting it up was a breeze as I simply created a Time Machine backup from my first unit and used that to restore to this one, leaving that external SSD attached to use with this unit's Time Machine backups. Of the four available USB ports, one goes to the radio, one goes to the external SSD, and one has the dongle for the mouse and keyboard, leaving the fourth port available for whatever. Everything is working exactly like my first Mac Mini M1, as expected. The only issue was that the unit arrived wrapped is several layers of bubble wrap then placed into a box much larger than needed and when it arrived it was missing the power cord. I contacted the seller and explained the situation and they provided me with a link to purchase a cord, after which they would reimburse me for the expense. Fortunately, over the years I had accumulated multiple power bricks from old, broken, and/or recycled equipment and a few of them had the exact plug on it I needed so ordering one wasn't necessary. Replies from the vendor were quick and apologetic for the problem, and by having the power cord I wasn't delayed in the installation, so I'm not going to ding them for the missing item. All-in-all, I'm happy with this purchase and my interaction with Tek Galaxy. If you're are looking for a nice Mac Mini, don't mind that it is a few years old, has Apple M1 architecture instead of the latest processor, and aren't going to try to run any memory intensive applications, this may be the desktop computer you're looking for. In addition, Tek Galaxy has the highest vendor rating of the businesses offering this hardware so I was comfortable purchasing from them and I won't have any problem doing so again in the future.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It was in like-new condition and runs like new.
*by L***Y on April 9, 2025*

So far so good! It's in like-new condition, it's fast, and so far it's reliable. Thus far, I'm very happy. I wasn’t real happy with the packaging. It was sliding around in the box during shipping, with no padding at all, which made me angry. I've bought three “renewed” machines from Amazon over the years, and so far I've been lucky with all three of them. I'm a PC guy. Always have been! I've been computing on Windows since Windows 2.0. But, I teach computer science and cybersecurity in college at the undergrad level, and I always have several students who have Macs and struggle to install software or use software like I'm demonstrating on a PC In class. As sad as it sounds, I'm not experienced enough with Mac OS to help them in certain circumstances. I have to get help from a colleague, which is fine, but if I'm going to stand in front of a classroom and talk about something, I should know what the heck I'm talking about. On top of that, my wife is a Mac girl, and she has been hounding me for a long time to give it a shot. So I finally took the plunge. When I set the machine up it, it worked, and immediately updated to Mac OS Sequoia 15.4 and has been running very well since. Again, I'm a computer geek, I have it running on a dock with my ThinkPad E16. Again, so far so good. It's actually the ThinkPad that gets an attitude sometimes when I boot it while it's connected to the dock. The ThinkPad gives me three extended displays and the laptop display as well for a total of four. To get two extended displays on the Mac I do have to move one of the HDMI cables from the dock to the back of the Mac Mini, or I'll end up with mirrored displays. I purchased an active HDMI adapter that will be delivered today, which should resolve that problem. I have to admit, it took several days of setting up to get things the way I wanted but I'm very, happy with this machine and the OS.
