My understanding is that the gel is 90%. The gel is too strong for some people's skin and can cause irritation and substantial redness. I have been quite satisfied with the 70% cream and we are on our 3rd bottle in the last month. It works really well and has no unpleasant odor. The 90% DMSO-based products permeate your skin and can leave a pretty strong odor that you may not notice but that others certainly will pick up on. I know, because I used the 99.9% DMSO internally and it does impart a garlic/onion scent in your sweat. You might want to try the 70% cream and supplement it with an oral dose of MSM in liquid or capsule form.
