I use it a lot and have not needed to change the blade. **Q: does it work on #14 thhn wire** A: Short answer is, Yes. If I recall they say itle do down to 18 AWG, buuuut...Long answer is... The smaller the wire more finesse it takes to keep it in the grove and not jump out from under the blade. It makes a difference if its solid or stranded too. I've done alot of #14 on mine but it takes more work than, say #8 or even #10. **Q: Will it strip 4/0 copper cable??** A: I wish I had 4/0 cable. Anyways If, including the insulation/plastic covering the O.D. is less than or equal to 3/4" thick. Maybe it will? The user guide says " 7/8" but I think that's wishful thinking. They do sell other machines that will easily accept that size **Q: Does the wire ever slide off?** A: By design, the wire can't slide off the unit. The cutting wheel may lose center if overtightened or not tightened enough, but that is easily rectified. This thing is awesome.
