Then I thought to myself, why would sawstop make such a phenomenal table saw and then sell a cheap blade? So here is an honest review from a guy that knows what he's talking about. I have been teacher of high school and middle school woodshop and construction for over 25 years. Over 8000 students have come through my classroom. I also have done all my own home renovation and repair for over 30 years. And I have worked in the trades since I was 14. And oh by the way, I still have all 10 of my fingers, so I must know what I'm doing too. I have 2 sawstop table saws in my life, industrial model at school and a contractor model at home. This blade is a PERFECT blade for your perfect sawstop for most cutting. You may need the 80 tooth for materials like melamine, although even on these sheet goods, this blade still workes awesome. It gives a nearly mirror finish in both hard and soft woods, and has enough throat on the blade to cut quickly and efficiently. The teeth hold their edges well. Maybe other reviewers are confusing this blade for the general purpose $40 sawstop blade? That blade is a great general purpose blade that works OK, but not up to the task of cabinetmaking... But, these titanium blades are as good as any blade I have ever cut with. And this blade is quiet as can be. No ringing, as another reviewer stated. Why would you not buy the sawstop blade for your sawstop saw? They are designed by sawstop to work specifically WITH their sawstop safety system. Coated blades will cause a delay in the firing of the safety system, as the coating can block the electrical contact between the blade and the arbor. So never use coated blades on a sawstop. Blades with feed rate control designed in can also hinder the action of the brake system as they limit how fast the blade can chew into the braking block and stop, allowing more teeth to chew into your finger on that bad day you bought the saw to prevent. So I would never use those feedrate control blades either. Think about it. You paid lots of money for the sawstop saw to get their safety braking system. Why would you not buy their blades, so you were guaranteed the braking system would work correctly? And why would they put so much attention into building the perfect saw, to then cut corners on their blades? My only minor complaint is their blades are a full 1/8 thick. But once again this is necessary to ensure there is plenty of strength in the blade for that time when the braking system fires and saves your finger. A thin kerf blade would not stop as quickly as there would be less friction. But do you really safe that much with a thin kerf blade you have to pay more for? Really? I doubt it. I started woodworking back in the days when there were only 1/8 inch kerf blades. Everything always worked great back then. So maybe it is a little wider than say a 3/16 thin kerf. But it is safer, and at 1/8 the math where you need to account for the kerf width sure is easier. Other negative reviewers can say what they want. This is a perfect blade, designed for a perfect saw. It is priced comparably to every other blade. So don't let the whiners get to you. Got a sawstop.
