Two days later I removed the washable zippered cover and washed it. That really was the only thing that had an odor. I put it in the dry for just a few minutes, watching it so as to not ruin it. It was very easy getting the cover back on the topper, with no issues at all. No smell, either. I then put the rough side down and made the bed. I have never had an issue with it slipping or sliding at all. My sheets fit tightly with elastic all the way around. The topper is soft, and just the right thickness for me. I am handicapped and have a good amount of pain everywhere, all the time. Since purchasing this topper, I am sleeping more soundly. Thank goodness. I will purchase another one for our cottage. The only weird thing? It's SHORT! It doesn't cover the entire mattress! No real problem for me as I'm short. The last one I bought was too firm but I was afraid that a memory foam topper would be too soft (and I've read a lot about the smell). Anyway, decided to go with this one because it's 2 inches thick, meaning less sinking into the topper, and it came with a washable cover. I love it! There was zero smell and the cover is really nice. More importantly, I am sleeping so much better now! I have a very good mattress under it w a pillow top but since sleeping on my Sleep Number this one in our guest room was lacking that softness plus firmness. Too many toppers are too thick so you lose support & are sunk too low into the mattress. This one is just right. 2 guests have now commented on how incredibly comfortable that bed is. Also - ZERO SMELL. I let it expand 24 hours & it was good to go.
