Is it tricky or difficult for a non-technical person?** A: It's easier, actually, than putting on your rear wheel. Just get the chain in the roller wheel of the device, slide it into the rear chain stay dropout, then lock the quick release lever. If you want more or less tension in the chain you can simply adjust your rear derailleur to lower or higher gear and rotate the crank. **Q: i have one. no need if you have a thru axle. simply use an old adhesive bandage spool and your thru axle. I use mine mostly for transport** A: That would definitely work too! **Q: Is there a bearing in the contraption, or does the plastic wheel just spin on the axle?** A: No bearing; although, otherwise well made. The plastic wheel spins on a metal axle. The chain rides on the plastic wheel which is free to move sideways when shifting gears. This makes it easier to clean the derailleur linkages as well as the chain. **Q: Will it work on my 6KU track bike?** A: Probably. It's designed to work with quick release axles. Your bike as bolt on axles. It will not work with thru axles. It is adjustable for the thickness of the drop out. If you still have the factory bolt on axles , you'd have to undo the bolts with a wrench, remove the rear wheel and then use this hub. To put the wheel back on, you'd do the reverse. If you're not familiar with the terms "quick release axle", "bolt on axle", "bicycle drop out" a quick search of Youtube should help. Yes it does cost considerably more than most of the other tools of this type but it performs faultlessly and the build quality is excellent. The quick release is better quality than the ones on the wheels and they're not cheap wheels! Not sure if it fits 'Through Bolt' axles, but it works well on my road bike and my hard tail XC trail bike.
