It filters "10,000 gallons" An average 10 min shower uses 20 gals. Using this info it will last appr 500 showers. (adjust for your own personal usage). I have been using this shower filter exclusively for 15 yrs; I love it!! Would highly recommend. **Q: will this filter help with hard well water (no clorine)?** A: Probably. I know that it filters out quite a bit, because the water where I live has quite a bit of of hardness and minerals. I get kidney stones from the shower water, and putting the filter on my shower has completely stopped my kidney stones. I have a handyman change the filter one month sooner than is recommended, just to make sure that I never have a problem again since I had 3 visits to the emergency room with stones and urinary tract infections.
