Review: Wonderful, holds details in molds, easy to use - I love this stuff. I have tried 3 other clays (two of them paper clays), tried making my own clay, tried using casting resin (disastrous as it adheres to metal) but none of them are as good as this for my use. I am making small statues using very intricately detailed two part metal molds. What I like: 1. It TOTALLY does not stick to your hands or leave a dried residue on your hands even when using over a 45-minute period. 2. The particles in the clays are very small so that it picks up detail very well and holds onto it even when removed from the mold. 3. There is a long working time. 4. It takes other materials well. I have floded and kneaded ground stones, incense, and other ground materials into the clay (roll flat with a rolling pin, scatter the materials on the flattened clay, knead until combined evenly). 5. Cracks can be repaired as it dries by pushing the material together with a flat object or knife. 6. It takes spray paint and water colors well. And probably acrylic paint but I didn't try that yet. 7. It isn't too "wet". What I don't like: 1. Can't think of a thing. It takes a day to dry, or more if the item is thick. Unmolded, my statues are about 2.5 inches at the widest, thickest part, and that takes a few days to dry. At least 3. I have also used it in a metal push mold. After a few hours, I can tap it down on a hard surface a few times and the figure pops out. It's a great material.
Review: Creative Paperclay for Modeling, Clay molds and more LOVE IT! - Hi, this is the clay of choice for me. Soft, easy to use, if you re package it in between using it,, will not dry out. I am using for the IOD Prima molds and love the quality of this paper clay. I purposely left a small amount in a double bag, one zip lock inside a larger bag to see if it would dry out and it did not, just ensure you release all of the air out of the zip bag. Worked for me. I purchased two of these along with other paper clay products to try with my new molds, love love this one and will get again, so easy to use and mold into the delicate designs especially when using the Iron Orchid Design molds. I am utilizing these for little wooden boxes, furniture and more. I am showing some pictures, also with my reviews of the molds, to show you the quality of this paper clay. drying process, some still look damp, I may have used too much, still playing with it, so you can see how these pieces turn out. Most of the pictures are with this brand, if you see some thicker ones, my boo boo, I used another brand, that I did not like as much, but it still worked okay. This is fun, great for you and the kiddos, start something, a project, this will teach them patience, ha ha, ask me I know! Anyway I hope you found this review helpful, please ask any questions, I will answer all of them. I also read all of the reviews before I purchase, as I am on a really fixed income, so I appreciate those that take the time to speak their mind, give hints and tips and also recommend a product, here on desertcart, that they like love as well. Sure helps, so thank you guys and gals! Much appreciated by this lady! :) Thank you for reading my review, have fun with this clay! My fave! :) Kat

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How long does it take to dry?**
A: Depends how thickly sculpted. I have done large pieaces with thin thickness and let dry overnight then painted the next day, paint rehydrates the clay a little and so has to be handled carefully while painting. However I have a big pieace I have painted and varnished and it stays under eves of roof outside and withstands very harsh winters. I love this product for how fast a finished product can be completed. I have tried a ton of different clays, air, oven, and I have a kiln and do ceramics but this is my favorite it is so easy to use.

**Q: My daughter does a lot with polymer clay. What is the difference between the two products (aside from the air-dry vs. baking)?**
A: Polymer clay, as the name suggests, is a synthetic material, composed of a polymer binder and other ingredients. It must be baked at 275 to 300 degrees F for about 20 minutes in order to be cured and, even then, it is still usually flexible, not perfectly hard. It is also not weatherproof (capable of outdoor display) unless sealed. As for Creative Paper Clay, it is a paper product, basically. It has some of the properties of modeling clay, but contains neither clay nor a polymer binder.

**Q: Is this similar to papermache?**
A: Yes it is very similar, it is very soft and easy to work. If you are using paperclay for the first time

**Q: Is it waterproof once its dry? What if I want to make floral jewellery with it instead of polymer clay, will they be durable?**
A: As long as it doesnt get wet or smashed very hard. It wont be as durable as the clay. Not as hard of a material. What you finish it with would help the durability.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great clay! Dont add too much water.
*by S***K on November 7, 2025*

I've used this paper clay to make a mask before and came back to it because its never done me wrong! I bought a cheap blank mask and wrapped it in saran wrap to protect the surface for gluing later. This helps with removing the finished mask from the base with ease once it dries while still allowing a form to sculpt on. I had a damp paper towel covering my excess clay on the side so it wouldnt dry out while I was pulling from it. Id add a tiny bit of water on the tips of my fingers just to keep the mask moist as i was working on it - be careful not to add too much water or you'll be sculpting with clay the consistency of hummus. I used sanding sticks to deepen creases and add details once it was dry. Then id coat with multiple layers of Gesso (not Mod Podge) on both the front and back. Mod Podge cannot be sanded to smooth out imperfections (tends to gunk up instead of turning to dust) and acrylic paint does not bond as well to it as a primer so I wouldnt recommend it myself. I painted mine with regular acrylics then sprayed with acrylic sealer.
