The use-by dates for lanolin tend to be one year after opening, but seriously? Some places (maybe not Now Foods) sell a hydrous version with a little water, nothing else, so it's a bit thinner and easier to spread (that's most likely what was in the squeeze container mentioned below as anhydrous would be too thick for a squeeze-tube). After a fairly long time (not sure exactly how long) the anhydrous becomes very thick and difficult to use with a slight change in color, but it still works. **Q: Is this lanolin cleaned in some way, or pasteurized, after being taken from the sheep's wool?** A: I don't see anything on the label indicating that it has been pasteurized. I’m a first time mom who exclusively breastfeeds, and my nipples have been extremely chapped lately with our almost 1y/o. They have teeth which does not help out with the chapping. I have used Lansinoh Lanolin, and I thought it worked good, but the “NOW Solutions” Pure Lanolin works even better, in my opinion. It’s cheaper, bigger, and works the best from what I’ve used so far. A little bit goes a long way! It’s great for chapped breast, lip balm, dry/cracked skin, and anything else you can think of. It’s also natural which is great. For the smell, it’s not that bad.
