This joins a 25/1.8 and the 55/1.4. The 12 mm is sharp and easy to focus. Color redition seems true. The price point is great, makes me wonder why the branded lenses cost so much more. Remember, when using these manual lens on your camera. Allow your camera to shoot with lens off, they don't communicate with the camera, It doesn't know it has a lens mounted. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hidden gem and a bargain *by H***T on Reviewed in Canada on 26 May 2020* This is a very nice lens. I paid Can$229 for this 7artisans 12mm 2.8 (Fuji X-mount version) and the next competitor, the Samyang/Rokinon 12mm 2.0 costs 2x as much. I owned both the Rokinon 12mm as well as the Can$1200 Fujinon 14mm, so I know what I'm comparing here.The built quality of this lens is nothing short of amazing. Even if it would cost much more, I would consider it well made. The focus and aperture rings are buttery smooth. As a photographer I would prefer an aperture ring with clicks, but I understand the benefit for the video folks. Certainly not a deal breaker. This lens is made better than the Samyang/Rokinon which came as a big surprise to me.But the best build quality doesn't matter if the image quality is not there. So here is my verdict:At f2.8 the lens is already very sharp in the middle of the frame. This sharpness in the middle of the frame continues in all aperture values up to f8 (after that diffraction will set in). The sharpness in the middle of the frame of this lens can easily hold its own compared to the Samyang/Rokinon and even the Fujinon 14mm which is almost a sacriledge.The corners and extreme edges are a little bit of a different story. At f2.8 I would avoid shots where corner- and edge-sharpness is important. Here, the Samyang/Rokinon has a clear edge and the Fujinon 14mm is not even in the same league.At f4 things start to improve and from f5.6 on the image is good even out to the corners and extreme edges. If you start pixel-peeping, you will find that the Samyang/Rokinon slightly out performs the 7artisans at every f-stop. There are chromatic aberations on both, but they can easily be fixed in post. Again, the Fujinon 14mm plays in a different league as it should.Color rendition and contrast on the 7artisans are excellent. Flare resistance is much better on the 7artisans compared to the Samyang/Rokinon. The latter comes with the cheapest lenshood known to man (and it doesn't really do anything), while the 7artisans has the hood always on.This 7artisans has no filter thread, which both good and bad. The good thing is, that if you don't need a filter, the lens is really compact. 7artisans sells an adapter for an additional ~$30. This will give you a 77mm filter, which is quite big compared to the size of the lens. The bad, of course is that if you use filters, you have to fiddle with another piece of kit. But even with the additional cost of the filter adapter the lens will set you back a moderate ~Can$270.To sum things up: This lens is an absolute bargain! I suggest to pick one up before they realize that they could charge $100 more and still be competitive. As to the corner/extreme edge performance issue: I solve the problem simply by avoiding smaller apertures for critical shots. The final work-around is to simply slightly crop the edges and corners out in post. That way you will end up with a ~14mm lens (21mm equivalent), which makes it just about the focal length of the Fujinon and you will have to look really close to spot major differences between the two if you know what are you doing in post! Yes, I said it.
