**Q: Are the tubes metal or plastic?**
A: Metal tubes.

**Q: I'm new to watercolor and I will be practicing infrequently. Is it better to deposit the colors into the well or just use them straight from the tube?**
A: In my opinion, your being new to watercolors will result in a few trial and errors, which should be taken as gaining experience. Marie's watercolors are a medium grade quality with vibrant colors and mix well. I would suggest using the paint straight from the tube to a palette for mixing the desired level of color and intensity. Painting infrequently would allow the paint in wells to harden and require more effort to remoisten it for use. Still, it's a 'user's choice' thing as there are no rules in bringing out our artistic creations. Enjoy your painting experience!

**Q: Can i use these for  chinese brush painting?**
A: I think you can you would just use more water on your brush for smooth strokes!

**Q: Do they dry well in pans?**
A: They don't.  They will crack in pans, but you can add glycerin to it.
