If you have a drain on your dishwasher, make sure the return drain hose is higher than the sink drain to break the siphon if your sink fills with water. Also, make sure the sink drain and disposal, if you have one, is clear before you start the dishwasher. **Q: What is the max fluid vertical lift? (Container on ground, pick-up with high gas cap.) May add more hose if the pump can handle it.** A: I don't know what the potential max lift is with a longer hose but it can lift the length of the supplied hose extended straight up. It is not a very long hose and would not reach a high gas cap on a 4x4 or something with the gas can on the ground. **Q: Can this pump Automatic transmission fluid or gear oil from a quart sized bottle into the transmission?** A: I purchased this to transfer motor oil from the lift oil drain to a container. It stopped pumping in a few seconds. The pump is still working. It works on less viscous liquid like water but not oil as advertised. **Q: Could I use it to pump water out of a tub shower door track after taking a shower? Thin enough hose and nozzle?** A: I don't know what world these other folks are in but NO it will NOT pump the water out of the tracks of your shower door unless they are about 2 inches wide and hold water at least 2-3 inches deep?????
