I finally broke down to buy this product to see if it would help. Much to my surprise, my nine year old was completely dry within less than two weeks! She was able to wake herself and make the product work without much help from us. Woot!My younger ones, however, are very hard sleepers and grumpy as ever to wake up at night to go potty. After a month of sleepless nights for dear old Ma and Pa, we decided to stop. During that month, we didn't see any improvement, so we felt it was wise to simply try again later. We did try it about three months later and had the same results. We will definitely try this again soon when our lives are less hectic and maybe that will help. They were all very enthusiastic about not having to wear diapers at night, but unfortunately, the heavy sleeping habits make this very difficult. I don't fault the product for this one bit, because clearly, it worked very well for our older child.Why do I give this four stars? For the price, it is a difficult to get the settings you want for the alarm and even more difficult to turn the thing off in the middle of the night. If this were meant to be an alarm clock for getting up in the morning, it'd be great, because you'd spend a lot of time waking up in order to turn the thing off. :) Disconnecting the cord is suppose to automatically turn it off, but there were several times it kept going despite disconnecting the cord. Sometimes we had to take out the batteries to get it to shut off, but even then, if we didn't have everything just right, putting the batteries back in automatically set the alarm off again. Maybe others had an easier time getting the settings as they wanted them and turning the alarm off, but we found it difficult with ours. Maybe ours was defective, but we purchased two and had the same issues with both. I feel the price is too high for a product with such limited control functions.The gadget is quite loud and the vibration is very strong, but believe it or not, my younger ones just slept right through it. I can hear the alarm in an entirely different room than where they are. With walls in between, no other noise in the house, and being fully awake, I'd say I can hear it faintly at about 30ft max. Yet, it doesn't phase them one bit being less than a foot from their ear. Annoying as ever to those who hear it, which is good, but if you can't hear it when you're asleep, it won't help.In the end, we are still pleased with the product, because the cost of not buying nighttime diapers for even one older child has already paid for the two alarms we purchased. Perhaps I will update when my others are successfully trained (or not). I wish you well in this journey and hope you find what works for your child(ren)! :) ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Truly Amazing - it works! *by J***F on Reviewed in the United States on 10 July 2013* I purchased this for my 7 year old son who had previously had one dry night his entire life. He would wake up soaked each morning in his Pull-ups or Goodnights. We tried everything we could think of, limiting liquids at night, waking him up, the "lifting" method, you name it, we did it. He is a very deep sleeper. We finally decided to purchase this in desperation, as he wanted to have a sleep-over with a friend who was moving out of the country. We decided to start after Christmas Break, as he'd be back on his regular schedule, and on a Friday night. He was very scared/resistant of it when we first showed him, so the first night he didn't actually use it, and there were many tears involved. But the second night he came to us and asked to use it. I firmly believe that he has to WANT to use it, otherwise it won't work. He always woke up to the alarm, but we had to prompt him to get out of bed, go to the bathroom, then help change his clothes and change sheets. We put down a Goodnights Mat over his sheets so that clean-up would be quick in the night, but had him wear underwear, not pull-ups. We kept a change of clothes by his bed, and a sheet of paper by our bed so that we could track what had happened. He had many accidents the first week, but surely and slowly, he improved. I wish I could say it worked easily and quickly, but it took a lot of time. He had his first dry night 12 nights into it. Then four wet nights, then 8 dry nights, then one wet, then 5 dry, then a few wet, then 8 dry, with small accidents mostly, etc. But then we went of out town, and grandparents came to stay. He had three HUGE accidents during that time. However, he got back on track, and we finally made it to 14 consecutive dry nights by beginning of April, so it took 3 solid months to get there. He then had a week of accidents, and then made it four weeks dry by mid-May. He has only had maybe two accidents in the past 2 months. We consider this to be an amazing miracle. I can't say it was easy - many nights he didn't want to wear it, or didn't think it was working, and we had to bolster his confidence. The progress sheets were great, because we could show him how much progress he had made. He was able to go to his sleepover in April and it was a success! I can only say to anyone who is desperate - it actually works. I was very hesitant and worried that we'd worsen his problem, but it is worth a try. We were spending $20 a month on Goodnights, so it paid for itself in 5 months. The hardest part is to be consistent and to make the commitment to get up with your child to help him through it. I even got a bit disappointed myself, hoping it would be a quick process. So it was hard for the whole family! But it is the best investment I've ever made for my child, as corny as that sounds!A few weeks into it, he could wake up, go to the bathroom, disarm it, take off his PJs, go to his room, put on his PJs, and reattach it all by himself. We always got up with him to help and see how big the accident was and assist him, but he wanted to do as much as possible by himself. (note, he is not the most independent child, so this was great that he took charge of the situation). We made it a family effort. We have a 4 year old in a bedroom across from his, and he is a very light sleeper. He did not wake up once, as far as we know, and it did not disrupt his sleep. We did not talk about it outside the house, and we called it his "sensor" instead of "alarm." I am so confident that he will be mostly dry from here on out. Every kid has accidents, so we're not worried about one every once in awhile.
