I am not a health professional, and was tossing up between buying this or a DBT skills workbook. This training manual is targeted toward practitioners and breaks down treatment plans with weekly lesson schedules, teaching notes and practical advice. This is a comprehensive manual, and includes references for further reading and researching. I wouldn't recommend a person with a clinical diagnosis try and go through this training manual alone however for someone wanting to know more about DBT without going through the program (which is about 25 weeks long), I've found it to be beneficial. Going through these lessons in my own time, has uncovered more self-reflection than with regular visits to the psychologist, and what I've found most helpful are the handouts and worksheets (which are available for free download from the publisher - they're not included in this book). If you're a mental health professional, this would be an indispensable resource but if you're just looking for an overview on DBT skills then a workbook would be better suited.
