desertcart.com: Skar Audio EVL-65 D2 6.5" 400 Watt Max Power Dual 2 Ohm Car Subwoofer : Electronics

Review: Powerful Bass Potential for the Right Setup - I recently installed the Skar Audio EVL-65 D2 6.5" 400 Watt subwoofer in my 2015 Lexus CT200h factory subwoofer box, and although I'm not experiencing its full potential, I can still appreciate its capabilities. Please note that my review is based on my specific setup limitations, but I believe this speaker has great potential when paired with the right amplifier. First and foremost, the installation process was a breeze. The speaker fit perfectly in my factory subwoofer box, making it a seamless upgrade. The build quality of the Skar Audio EVL-65 D2 is evident, with its sturdy construction and durable components. It is clear that this speaker is built to last. Now, onto the sound. Due to the limitations of my car's factory amplifier, I'm only able to hear a fraction of the bass that this speaker is capable of producing. However, I believe the issue lies with my car's power output rather than the speaker itself. Despite the limited bass response, I can still perceive the potential that lies within the Skar Audio EVL-65 D2. Considering the value for money, this speaker offers a solid investment. While I'm unable to fully exploit its capabilities, I recognize that it is designed for enthusiasts who are seeking powerful and deep bass. If you have a compatible amplifier that can provide the necessary power, I believe this speaker will truly shine and deliver an exceptional audio experience. In summary, the Skar Audio EVL-65 D2 is a well-built and impressive subwoofer, despite my current setup limitations. Its easy installation and durable construction make it a great choice for car audio enthusiasts. While I can't provide a comprehensive review of its sound quality, I am confident that with the appropriate amplifier, this speaker will deliver outstanding bass performance. I would definitely consider purchasing the Skar Audio EVL-65 D2 again, but next time, I will ensure that my audio system can fully unleash its potential.
Review: Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 replacement - So after trying to replace the blown stock sub with a cheap alternative (pyle plg64) and having it go up in smoke in less than a week, I decided to find a beefier alternative. First impression is that this speaker appears to be built well. I thought the tiny amp in the ProMedia didnt have a chance to move this speaker. I tried wiring the 2ohm dvc in series and parallel. at 1ohm, it was super distorted but the klipsch amp had no problem powering the sub for the short time i tried it. It probably would fry the amp over time, but i was curious how it wouldve worked. It was basically a rattle machine all the way down to 1/4 turn on the bass knob At 4ohms, i felt it probably wasnt as loud as the factory sub, but it also doesnt sound like a loud fart rattle at max volume like the stock speaker did. It does seem to go lower though. But the real beauty is that at max volume, it doesnt seem to have any problem handling the power like the factory sub. Overall, i think it probably sounds a little smoother. I cant do a side by side comparison, but i really like this as an option for replacement. It murders the pyle plg64 which did get better after it broke in but never came close to sounding as good as the factory sub. The cabinet is probably on the small side for this sub, but it brings the system back to life, so thats all i could ask for. The sub barely fits once it's wired up, but it does fit. Obligatory mention of klipsch promedia sub replacement quirks: 1. The grill wont fit back on, but the speaker fits nicely and doesnt look bad without the grill. 2. The factory connector on the negative side will need to be snipped off and replaced with a standard size one, but youll be doing a similar job just to make the jumpers to wire the dvc properly anyway. 3. The factory sub was a 6 ohm speaker, i chose to get a 2 ohm dvc to wire it in series to 4ohms rather than get the 4ohm dvc and wire it to 8ohms. Im not sure what the longevity of the amp will be like, but i can imagine at 8ohms, it wouldnt be loud enough. I'd be curious if it would be passable at 2ohms if someone wants to give it a shot. If this sub improves after it breaks in like the pyle did, I'd say its a huge upgrade over stock. As for now, i'd say its probably a very tiny downgrade in outright loudness but a slight upgrade in the less distortion and lower frequency response department. Overall, i'd recommend this over a cheap replacement speaker all day. its a beast.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can I power one of the 6.5 inch ones with 600w rms?**
A: yes, easy if its a 1 channel, just look at your amps power ratings @ ohms, match our speakers ohms to the power desired. if your amp puts out 600 rms at 2 ohm, it should do 300 at 4 ohm so get the dual 2 ohm and wire it for 4 ohms and its only 100 watts overpowered, which is about perfect. if its 600 at 4 ohm and 300 at 8 ohm get the dual 4 ohm and wire it for 8 ohms.
if its a 2/4 channel that gets more complicated. i dont think i have the characters available to explain bridging.

**Q: Do these work for a 1999 camaro coupe ss monsoon system for the sail speakers/sub-woofers?**
A: Did you use these in your Camaro was looking at the. For my WS6 my sail panel speakers are blown trying to find a 2ohm 6.5 is not easy

**Q: Would 2 of these fit door panels in a 2012 Chevy Suburban?**
A: I’d your looking for bass yeah I have these on my sons Tacoma because there isn’t a clean way to hook up a sub box. I put one on the left one on the right , with a alpine older sub amp. I if you aren’t putting them into the actual metal on the door. Use nut and bolt screws and make sure they are tight into the door panel. Under power them a little. His truck was rounded out perfectly. I used a kicker line out box with remote turn on tapped into radio. And hook up the line out box to both left and right speakers , some people with use one side , but your adding 2 separate speakers. If you want to be more adjustable use a loc with crossover or eq built in

**Q: Whats the best speaker wire gauge for this 6.5 .**
A: I have 10g wires and it good but you can use 8,10, or 12

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great upgrade for Honda Element EX.
*by B***N on July 8, 2026*

Excellent sub. Easy install in my 2005 Honda Element EX 5 speed. I soldered larger connectors onto the factory wiring and drilled a couple of holes for two of the four screws, otherwise this was plug and play. I'm a professional bassist and this was exactly the sound quality I was looking for. I'm using a 2022 10 inch Eonon Android head unit that was plug and play with the factory amp using an ISO adapter kit. Installed Polk Audio 6.5 coaxial all around years ago and this really rounded the system out. The price for the Skar driver had me skeptical, I highly recommend it for an adult subwoofer upgrade on a Honda Element. Will it do the other fender rattling type thing? Beats me. Not what I was looking for, I wanted a musical sub that could cover a range of musical styles. The Eonon Q03Pro head has a 48 band EQ and loads of advanced controls for dialing in exactly the sound I wanted.
