It is inexpensive, light weight, small, and an aluminum shell, with a reasonably performant chipset and USB-C interface. It is USB bus powered and comes with a USB A to USB C cable, so everything is open to use it easily. No issues have shown themselves after several hundred gigs of transfers. Installation is quick and painless with the included tiny screw driver and screws, and it doesn't feel like things are going anywhere. The fit was great with an old half tb WD SSD, but probably wouldn't suggest a spinning HD with it as there isn't great dampening nor thermal transfer since you have to slide it against the aluminum rather than place the aluminum over the top of it and there is no airflow possibility. Perfect for SSDs though. Review: Stylish and affordable - Works great, my ssd fit perfectly, and I really like the all aluminum shell. The issue other reviewers mentioned about the cable not seating all the way in may have been fixed since mine appears to be flush, or at least does not stick out far at all. Speed seems to be appropriate for my basic ssd. ## Features - Great Compatibility: Works great with Windows,MAC OS,Linux full range system, specially designed for 2.5 inch SATA HDD and SSD up to 10TB maximum with the thickness of 7 mm and 9.5mm, Compatible with most of HDD or SSD with SATA port; - Super Fast USB C 3.1/3.2 Gen2 UASP Protocol: The SATA interface of this enclosure supports UASP accelerated transmission protocol, 70% faster than traditional USB 3.0 transmission speed. Any difference?** A: I have both plastic cases and this case. My transfer rates are equivalent. The aluminum case is tougher in that it resists impacts better (e.g., rubs that would scratch the plastic do not bother the aluminum). Two mounting screws in the aluminum case are visible, which is not true for the plastic case. The aluminum case will be hotter during long transfers. I had an hours-long file transfer and the case got noticeably hot. I have not noticed that with plastic cases. The manufacturer includes a heat shield for HDD drives. The difference is this case is tougher than a plastic case. Like a rugged phone. **Q: Does this drive come with intelligent sleep mode where the drive turns off after a certain period of time due to inactivity?** A: Yes, it has the intelligent sleep mode. **Q: will this thermal throttle large data transfers , when it heats up as so many cheap enclosures do?** A: I regularly transfer 3-8gb video files and mine doesn’t seem to have any issues. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Compact and perfect for an SSD *by L***D on July 28, 2025* This drive enclosure is exactly what it says it is, which is great! It is USB bus powered and comes with a USB A to USB C cable, so everything is open to use it easily. No issues have shown themselves after several hundred gigs of transfers. Perfect for SSDs though. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Stylish and affordable *by A***H on January 11, 2026* Works great, my ssd fit perfectly, and I really like the all aluminum shell. The issue other reviewers mentioned about the cable not seating all the way in may have been fixed since mine appears to be flush, or at least does not stick out far at all. Speed seems to be appropriate for my basic ssd. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Compact and Sturdy Enclosure *by W***G on June 24, 2025* The aluminum enclosure is compact and easy to assemble. I used it to repurpose a spare Samsung EVO 850 SATA III 250 GB SSD into an external storage drive for my laptop. Will be useful on trips for extra storage. Much faster than my USB thumb drives. Plug and play without any issues so far. One reviewer complained about not getting two cables. The very detailed product description states one USB-C to USB-A cable is included. (Running Windows 11 on desktop/laptop). Purchased in June 2025. Update (9/13/25): Unable to boot my computer this afternoon and urgently needed some information stored in my desktop computer's. Removed the SSD from the computer (Samsung EVO 870 4TB) and placed it in the enclosure. Plugged it in my laptop and was able to retrieve the information needed. Yes, I have multiple backups. Unfortunately, one of them is in my bank's safety deposit box (it's Saturday and the bank is closed) and the other is on a 5TB HDD which has to be inserted in a built-in enclosure on the desktop. Since I have no way to connect it to the laptop, it's useless. Ordering another enclosure today for another spare SSD. Also ordering a USB dock which can handle both SSDs and HDDs. ## Frequently Bought Together - SSK Aluminum 2.5" Hard Drive Enclosure USB C 3.1/3.2 Gen2 6Gbps External HDD Caddy Adapter Reader with UASP for 2.5inch 7/9.5mm SATA HDD/SSD Compatible with WD Seagate PS4/5 Xbox ect. - Samsung SSD 870 EVO, 4 TB, Form Factor 2.5 Inch, Intelligent Turbo Write, Magician 6 Software, Black --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.pt/products/287128579-ssk-2-5-hard-drive-enclosure-sata-to-usb-c](https://www.desertcart.pt/products/287128579-ssk-2-5-hard-drive-enclosure-sata-to-usb-c) --- *Product available on Desertcart Portugal* *Store origin: PT* *Last updated: 2026-10-11*
