They are not plastic. **Q: What is the adhesive on the back made from? is it natural or zero voc?** A: I would say it's just a general tacking glue. I purchased 2, I would not buy this again. The adhesive wasn't string enough and it came in a roll and was impossible to get it to lie flat after trying several different things over multiple days. I finally secured some if 1 roll to the wall with drywall screws. These mutes typically have three cork pieces where they hold the mute in the bell of the instrument by means of friction. The corks dry out and fall off after a few years and need to be replaced. The plan is to cut the pieces out of the sheet of cork and stick them to the mutes.
