Us Military Issue Extreme Cold Weather Sleeping Bag in Od Green. These are the thickest warmest bags I ever had. [Other "Extreme Cold Weather" Bags are thinner] NEW - New old stock (NOS): Never issued,never used.May show some light cosmetic signs of long term storage. These are the Real Old School Heavy Duty Sleeping Bags. These sleeping bags are made of water-repellent poplin cotton outer shell with 80% down 20% polyester filling. They feature a 64in long zipper, offset stitching at the seams and a 3 in storm flap with snaps over the zipper rated for -20°F. Mummy style bags with a draw cord hood. These bags are 84 inches long, 30in wide at the top and 14in at the bottom and weigh 8lbs. They were issued from the 1970's into the early 2000's. Made in USA.

Review: These bags are absolutely as advertised extremely durable, extremely warm. - This bag is the same exact one I used in the military. I was Air Force combat security police, Air Bas Ground Defense from '79 to '83. Woke up one morning on the side of a mountain with 6 inches of snow on us after tracking another team during an exercise. Never knew it snowed, got out, rolled 'em up and moved to our next point. EXCELLENT bag, they do not tear, there is no smell to them, they are BRAND NEW. Even if just your electricity should go out at your house in the winter, your family will be warm and secure, same thing traveling in your car. Throw it in the back, good to go.

I also like the material it is made from, as it is so much easier to roll up than those made of slippery material. **Q: What are the washing instructions?**
A: I found that if you wash this bag too many times, then the inside of the bag will begin to tear & disintegrate, whether you wash it in the washing machine or have it dry-cleaned (like I did).  
My solution right now, is not to wash it anymore; rather, just spot-clean by hand, as necessary.  
While this bag is wonderful, I must say that its durability doesn’t seem to match the ones we used when I was in, during the 80's.  
Those bags, we could just throw in the washing machine & dryer, and everything would be fine.
Sadly, that’s not the case for these wonderful replicas. 
Yes, even though I truly do love this bag, it just doesn't have the durability on the inside fabric, like the sleeping bags we had during the Cold War.
If you MUST clean it, I would consider getting your bag dry-cleaned, as this is the gentler of the two washing options.

**Q: Does this come with the separate head cover? OD wool with Velcro connector under the chin?**
A: If you're referring to the "sleeping hat" the old school polymer green one nope that thing is long gone . They normally came with the initial issue. I haven't looked at the thing a while but it's either a string or Velcro strap.....

**Q: do these have a musty smell to them?**
A: The one I received was sealed in a plastic bag.
Mine came without any musty smell. This is my second one of these bags in 28 years.

**Q: I’m 5’5 will this bag be to long**
A: No it will be fine

This is the first sleeping bag I've gotten that truly keeps me warm on cold winter/spring/fall camping trips. I also like the material it is made from, as it is so much easier to roll up than those made of slippery material. I am 6' 190lb and it fits me about perfectly...if you're much taller or thicker, you might have trouble fitting in it.

I must say that this bag is very warm if your worried about being cold with this bag you don't have to worry I've owned mine for 8 years and the only modification I have done is add the woodland camo waterproof bivy bag with it I'm not worried about getting it wet in the wintertime for me personally I don't mind the weight as a good night's sleep being warm is priceless as an investment in my own sleeping system to find something that will do the same temperature range as well as this one is so far I have yet to find one. Although I got mine from a surplus store years ago for $60 I wouldn't trade it for anything else
