I was pleasantly surprised. One of the features that I really like about it is the adjustable range on the sensitivity adjustment knob. It will go from not beeping till the object is actually touching the tip, to out to about 1 1/2 inches away. I use a penny for this, and like to keep it tuned to where it senses it at 1/2inch away. Also, I like being able to turn off the sound and just use vibrate. I've read some revues where people had machanical problems with this, so I'm keeping the warrantee. When I can afford it I will get a Gerard "pro-pointer" for the proximity feature, but for now, this pointer is GREAT!! ### ⭐ 1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of money. I wasn't sure what probe to buy for metal detecting after searching through all the probes this one seemed to be the highest quality but apparently I was wrong. It has a little white knob to adjust the sensitivity but it doesn't actually do anything but make the thing scream even when your no where close to a metal object. You have to touch the probe tip directly to the metal before the thing will vibrate or beep. Just imagine a childrens play gun at the dollar store and this is what you have. It amazes me that $49.95 can't buy you a descent pinpointer.
