The Broan 200 CFM Through-Wall Ventilation Fan is the perfect solution for rooms up to 195 sq. ft, including one car garages, or use for spot ventilation near areas such as a work bench, garbage can, car, or lawn mower. The durable galvanized steel housing provides superior protection against the elements and wear and tear. It features a built-in exterior wall cap/vent which reduces install time, no duct work needed. Customize your fan with one of Broan-NuTone’s wall controls. For automatic operation, choose from a humidity or motion sensing control. To automatically turn off the fan after you leave the room or garage, pair the fan with a delay-off or countdown timer. (Wall controls sold separately.) From the Manufacturer In the midst of the Great Depression, two aggressive young men emerged with two new products that would make major contributions to the housing industry. In 1932, Henry Broan developed and manufactured a kitchen fan called the Motordor Fan that provided quiet and efficient kitchen ventilation. His creation launched what is today known as Broan-NuTone LLC. Four years later, in 1936, J. Ralph Corbett developed a melodious door chime replacing the obnoxious door buzzer of the time. His development launched what is today known as NuTone, Inc. Both men, headquartered in the Midwest, started their companies with a simple product and a few employees. **Q: Can this fan be connected to a wallswitch?**
A: Yes, of course it could be.  In that case, both the wall switch and the onboard rotary switch would have to be turned on for the fan to run.  You could leave the onboard switch in the ON position, then use the wall switch to control the fan.  A simpler solution would be to buy the Broan Model 509 fan, which is the same unit  m i n u s  the built-in switch, intended to be used with a wall switch.  It also costs around $10 less. **Q: does this fan have a continuous duty motor**
A: I can only comment on the Broan 509 and the specs on their site spec sheet say "Continuous Operation: No".

Also, the speed controller cannot be used with Impedance protected fans, and yet Broan suggest it for the install.

**Q: How can we vary the speed of this fan to facilitate rates of air exhaust?**
A: Yes it Can. After talking to a Broan rep he stated a speed control. I suggest this one.
