I see the house is stainless steel but no mention of the cooking surface materials. Is it non-toxic?** A: Teflon. It may be BPA Free as someone said but that does not mean it is 100% safe. All teflon has The chemical - called perfluorooctanoic acid, or PFOA - is used to make compounds called fluoropolymers, which are used in turn to make Teflon and other products like oil and water-repellent coatings on carpet, textiles, leather and paper. If you cook at very high temperatures some of the chemicals can be released in the air as carcinogens. That said, I use my 5-1 Griddler often and just make sure I don't turn the heat way up. It's just another thing for us to worry about. The FDA came out with this over 14 yrs ago and still has done nothing one way or the other. **Q: I bought one waffle plates before but it damage, how can i get the replacement?** A: I bought one from GVODE Amazon store, it works well for my griddler, i think it better than original plates, you can try it. **Q: Like this product,multifunction, can make waffles as well. I got it to replace a old George Forman grill that did not has removable plates. My first meal on it was turkey burgers. They were delicious and cooked in six minutes. It's remarkably easy to clean. It works well as a contact grill (a la George Foreman) as well as a flat griddle and as a waffle maker. We've had success making eggs, bacon, pancakes, waffles, grilled cheese, grilled asparagus, and other foods. Both top and bottom plates come off and are very easy to clean, and will both drip down into the grease tray which is on the bottom of the machine. The only downsides are that if you use the grill, you have to wait for it to cool down before you can clean it and use it as a griddle or vice versa. We also found that cleaning the grease tray was not the easiest, but that was primarily because grease is just generally hard to clean.
