I bought it expecting it to only really be used by our toddler, so the fact that my preschooler enjoys it so much is a bonus. The farmer counts his pigs in the morning and one is missing, so they look around the farm for it. As they look for the pig, they meet the other animals. At the end of the day, the farmer counts them again to make sure all five are there. The counting aspect was unexpected and makes this book even better.
