All components were stuffed in a plastic bag with no retail box and zero documentation.The actual flashlight has the name "PROBE SHINY" printed on it. It can be powered by either a single 18650 Li-ion cell, or 3x AAA cells with the included adapter. The body is relatively large when compared to other LED flashlights powered by either 3x AAA cells or 1x AA cell. See my uploaded picture for size comparison.[Operation Modes]The flashlight has 5 modes. You can change the mode by clicking the power button off and then on within ~3 sec. Or you can lightly tap the power button to advance the mode. The modes are:- High brightness- Medium brightness- Low brightness- Strobe- S.O.SIf you turn off the flashlight and then wait for more than 5 sec before on again, it restarts in High brightness mode. This is a good design since you don't need to cycle through all 5 modes each time.[Power Consumption]I measured the input power of this flashlight over a range of battery voltage. See the uploaded "Power Consumption vs. Battery Voltage" chart for details. It is obvious from this chart that this Probe Shiny flashlight has no power regulation at all. The LED is driven directly by the battery.- In High power mode with a freshly charged 18650 battery (4 Volts) the flashlight consumes around 5 Watts. But at the nominal voltage of 3.6V, it consumes just over 3W of power. That means the light output is at most 360 lumens, since the light efficacy of CREE XM-L LED is around 120 lumens per watt.- In Medium power mode, the input current is chopped into 50% duty cycle. That means the light output is reduced to half.- In Low power mode, the input current is further reduced to 25%Note that the power consumption of Probe Shiny is similar to that of the smaller  SkyWolfEye  flashlight powered by a 14500 Li-ion battery. The real advantage of using a larger battery is runtime. A 3200mAh 18600 cell contains 4x more energy than an 800mAh 14500 cell, which translates to 4x longer runtime at the same power.[Battery Charger]The included charger works for either 18650 or 14500 Li-ion cells. There is an LED indicator which turns Red during charging, then Green when done. Strangely enough, when I insert a partially charged 18650 cell, the LED turns Green even before the charger is plugged in. Turns out the battery status indicator is drawing ~3mA from the battery constantly.Amazon product description claims the charger output is "DC 4.2V 650mA". But back of the battery charger says its output current is 500mA, with an End-of-Charge voltage of 4.2V. In actual testing, however, the charging current I measured is only ~150mA when battery is at 3.8V. That means it will take around 24 hours to recharge the included 3200mAh battery - if the capacity rating were true. In my testing it took less than 9 hours, since the actual battery capacity is just ~1150mAh.I tested charging an old Samsung 2800mAh cell (removed from laptop battery pack). According to my  EUM-A1  power meter, the charger consumes just 1.3W, and it took about 16 hours to finish. This is consistent with the charging current of 150mA (because 2800mAh/150mA = 18h)[Bottom Line]This package is very inexpensive and it contains everything you need for a rechargeable LED flashlight system. However its advertised luminosity of '5000LM' is absolutely ludicrous for a CREE XM-L LED. If you can accept light output of around 300 lumens, then it is still a great value. But due to the false advertisement, the best I can give it is a neutral (3-star) rating. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good flashlight for the money *by D***E on Reviewed in the United States on November 30, 2016* Can't beat this light for the price and what you get. It's everything from the light, battery, charger, sheath, AAA adapter and a clamp. It's well made and very bright (probably not 5000lm) but still very bright. Very happy with my purchase. Taking it hunting this weekend. It should light up the woods on my way in and out. I hope the battery lasts but it does supply you with the adapter to put in 3 AAA batteries so I will it and a set of spare batteries in my pack just in case. ### ⭐⭐ Decent, not waterproof, but useful for my needs, and a great price. *by W***D on Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2016* Got it faster than Amazon predicted, which was nice. I knew this was falsely advertised, so the fact that it's not as bright is fine. It's plenty bright for camping and wearing on my hip. My reasoning for 3 stars is that there is no way this thing is waterproof. There is no seal at the lense, an in fact I can wiggle the lense when the top ring is tight, and I don't see one at the top for the zoom, which does unscrew. I can make it waterproof, and for $10 I guess it's not a big deal, but come on people, 2 o-rings would have done it. All in all, I'd buy again.EDIT: I took away a star because after 2 days of wearing it on my belt just putting around the house, the strap for the belt loop broke. Garbage stitching. Had I been outside, I would have surely lost the flashlight. Do NOT trust the holster it comes with until you do something to reinforce it!
