The first time I used it it worked fine. It opened four cans splendidly, safely and I was delighted. That was the last time it worked. The very next time I tried to use, I COULD NOT get it to work. Since I was making dinner and had a canned ingredient, getting into the can was essential, but try as I might I couldn't get the opener to open the can. It was like it wasn't gripping or something. Worse, as I kept at it, the attack generated little metal shavings and splinters and one managed to get into my finger where it still resides. I know a lot of people have had a good experience with this device and I might be an outlier, but I am going to have to send it back.UPDATE: The company replaced the defective one and the new one works fantastically well. Opens the cans safely and reliably. Great. Over half the time we would end up running to the neighbors to borrow their normal can opener.Bottom line: if its not broke don't fix it! Nothing wrong with the standard can opener design, but there is something really wrong with this.
