This is due to the gussetted component of these pants. At 6-00, 210#, I purchased 36 waist; 30 inseam for a snug but wearable fit. A 38 waist would have been too loose. My point is there is no cheating on waist sizing. 511's sizing is accurate and spot on. If you wear a 36 waist, then get a 36; if you don't, then order a 38 or lose a few pounds. Inseam @ 30" was perfect. The snap closure is solid, eliminating buttons that become loose, requiring needle & thread. I believe these trousers will work for my gig as a security guard for carrying: pocket knife, cuffs, nitrile gloves, small note book & cell phone. We don't use duty belts so cuffs go into pockets.Update after 2 days of work, 060123: the stretch feature might give you an half inch. Yeah, they work. Warning: do not think the stretch feature will allow you to cheat on your waist size. It doesn't. Sizing is very accurate. 36" means 36" waist. Trousers are gussetted, which means lots of room in and around the groin area. These trousers are durable and well constructed. My 1.75" belt fits perfectly within the belt loops (7 loops). Going to purchase several pairs. These went on sale and I figured I'd give them another try. I really like the way these fit. They are sized appropriately. Love the extra room in the crotch. The elastic waistband is great. The weight of these pants are ideal from 20-70 degrees. They don't fade. I wish the shorts were cheaper...
