When I wrote my first review and had trouble with the unit, I was contacted immediately via email by the company (not Amazon) and was treated like a person and not just a customer. I was sent a replacement unit and I have to say that when they work, these aromatherapy diffusers are really great. But unfortunately the second unit also began to malfunction within a month. I turn it on and the lights flicker, instead of the green indicator lights above the timer options are now red. I did maintain it carefully, clean it properly, and used it daily.It disappoints me to have to write a negative review about a product that looks great and performs so well when it is performing. Perhaps I have bad luck or the water in my area is too hard- if you purchase this unit consider distilled water. I really liked this product and it was something that brought me pleasure and comfort while it lasted.Alright, I like to begin my reviews with some context so you know what kind of person I am as, let's face it, reviews from total strangers (especially the gargoyles who say things like "THIS IS TRASH!!!" and nothing else) are risky business. I can't guarantee I'm "every person", but I can tell you that I'm an information person. I appreciate thorough and well thought out reviews (other than the ones that consist of "it's okay/I like it/turns on when I plug it in) reviews and obviously some humor.Still with me? Great. I spent two hours comparing different essential oil diffusers and decided on this one. I'm glad I did. I have a lot of things to say about this that a prospective customer like me might want to know.•CONSTRUCTION: This device is very well constructed. The ceramic shell is designed for both function as well as aesthetics. The ceramic also becomes cool when running this scentastic diffuser. It does not feel cheap like the faux wood and plastic ones I have had or seen in the past. It has aesthetic value even whilst unplugged.•EASE OF USE: The inner tank is easy to get to. you simply lift the ceramic shell, lift a light plastic upside-down funnelesque thing, then a little smaller lid to the tank that is clearly marked with the maximum fill line. My understanding it is about 1 cup of water.The two buttons are clear: LIGHT and MIST.Light is self-explanatory- you can cycle through the colors to choose your favorite although if you want to enjoy what really is far more colors than advertised, stick to the cycle/alternating option. I included pics of a few colors that occur during it and yeah...it's fun to watch. Relaxing even, as you are focusing on one soothing object and not worrying about paying bills or your upcoming dentist appointment.The MIST button has three options: the first is a 10 second MIST that repeats at regular intervals as opposed to the continuous mist options which are 1 hour or 2 (it has an auto shutoff.) Being the self indulgent person I am, I've opted for the 2 hour option because I'm a glutton. And my room smells greater than before.MISTING: The cool most is very refreshing, especially when paired with peppermint and spearmint oils, a little lemon, and whatnot. You can custom mix your oils, go the route of buying a variety kit, or just simply be a purist and put a drop or two of lavendar at night. The mist is consistent, not spotty, and a nice refresher after a facial when you need to cool your skin and close pores after an extraction. It also is a bye-bye to dry nasal passages and lips (I use a little Watkins old school Rose Balm after to seal in the moisture.)•TIP: use before moisturizing but don't dry face before applying.•SOUND: very whispery quiet. I know there are delicate people on Amazon who have super bar hearing, /'d I don't think even they would be bothered by the soft "white noise " this creates. A ceiling fan or the AC starting drown out this noise, that's how quiet it is.EASE OF MAINTENANCE: just rinse it out everyb6 uses, no crazy detergents, etc. it's an easy, breezy scentsational product and I think I will be giving these as gifts too.All in all- exactly what I wanted and even more.In a dark room, the patterned design creates an interesting effect and contrast, with the ceramic taking one a more concentrated level of the color.I did receive a coupon for this, but nothing from the seller requesting a review or any compensation. It comes well packaged in a sturdy box, nice enough for gift-giving. It makes some quiet bubbling/clicking noises while operating. It is made in China.I tried it out at 72 degrees and 40% humidity. It started puffing out mist immediately. It looked like a cute little chimney.After about 15 minutes I checked on it and there was moisture all over my counter and the top of the diffuser from the mist settling out of the air. Then I read the directions and discovered the water should be room temp! I had used cold water directly from the tap. I tried it out again with the warmer, room temperature water and there were no condensation problems.The mist rises about 6-7 inches and then drops. It would disperse the essential oils in a work cubicle or powder room; I doubt it has enough heft to scent a normal size room.A promotional or discounted item was offered for testing and review.
