Just as described . No dust or any funky smell. Our chickens love it. We are first timers with a chicken coop. What we did see is how our chicks like to nestle in the fresh flakes. We have yet to finish the first bag but it looks like it will last a while until we have to restock. I would recommend if you are not sure. Don't open the whole bag, it helps to open just a corner if for a small area.
