Review: So much better then the old 7 inch and now a great tablet - Bought to replace an old kids 7 inch, that my son conveniently broke just outside of warranty. What we always found though was how slow and poor the battery was on that tablet. This one however, is really responsive, the battery so far is amazing, there is support for a 1tb Micro SD and the usb C port is welcome. The case is useful and slim compared to the older foam style plus the larger screen actually make this a really useable device. Yes the lack of YouTube kids is a massive issue compared to an iPad or Android but for older kids the web browser works well although not as user friendly, it is a Kids 10 Pro only feature. There are tons of videos that can be accessed through the general operating system as well as being able to add from prime or whole apps like Netflix, Disney and one the most useful, Sky, providing you have a sky subscription. The games and apps with the prime kids subscription is still the highlight and you can still add android apps, which need parental approval. Now my son is older he uses majority of what is available, there is a slider you can move as they get older that is under the child’s profile that adds more content, he loves having the books feature now. It’s a really good device and has lots of sets of features, despite the missing YouTube kids app, for older kids at least. Buy on prime day or equivalent and it’s a crazy good deal. When the kids are older or are ok sharing, just switch user and it becomes a perfectly useable tablet for adults as well.

Brilliant for older kids. Perfect for my nearly-six year old daughter, who loves the more grown up look. To be honest I’d be happy with this for myself! I managed to pick this up on offer, but even at full price this is good value for money given the larger screen and good performance. I wasted plenty of money before this on inferior cheap tablets, which broke easily and had terrible battery life. A false economy. The case offers some protection, but not as much as the case for younger kids. But even if the worst happens, Amazon will replace the tablet, which is worth the extra cost above the standard price for this tablet. A nice feature is the ability to expand memory cheaply with a card. A great feature if you want to download lots of videos in case there’s no or poor internet connection on long journeys. The only downside is the lack of YouTube Kids. Although I believe you can fudge this, if you can be bothered. But Amazon Kids+ is offered free for a year, and quite cheap thereafter. It has loads of videos and apps and more than enough to keep my daughter happy. Amazon Kids+ also offers great parent monitoring and child safety options. Perhaps they’re not perfect all the time, but should be fine for any responsible parent to keep tabs on what’s going on (you’re not relying solely on software to keep your children safe, right?) Overall a great buy, particularly if you can pick it up during one of Amazon’s many offer periods.
