I bought this for the lights beside my garage. There are two switches for these lights, one inside the garage and one by the front door. Every night I had to look at the cameras to see if the lights were on or not. This switch solves the problem. The only thing I would change the way the switch functions. The brighter light (on the switch) means the lights are off and the dimmer light means the lights are on. That may be because of the other switch's position, rather than the lights being on or off. I would reverse it because it isn't very intuitive. It just takes some getting used to. There is no sound. **Q: When the circuit if not closed, and the light is off, how does the bulb in the switch get electricity current?** A: There is a separate circuit for the light in the switch and the outlet or light that it controls. When you hook up the switch it completes the circuit for the internal light, but the circuit to what the switch controls isn’t closed until the switch is in the on position. **Q: Can the switch be switched so that the light is on when the switch is on and off when off?** A: My only lights up when the light are off. Cannot switch. Kind of like a night light to see if you have to get up in the middle of the night.
