These boards are much more powerful than a typical Arduino due to the faster 32-bit processor. I was able to successfully program these using the Serial Port on Pins A9 and A10, and was able to set up my Arduino IDE environment to program them easily. I used a USB-TTL converter but there many other ways to program these too. The USB is not the same as on an Arduino, so don't expect to plug in a USB cable and have it work the same. These are programmed either through the Serial Port (A9/A10) or the 4-pin header on the end of the board using an ST Link programmer. (Type STM32F103C8T6). The Chinese are excellent at disguising components. However, I have connected all the necessary wiring and loaded my software with my loader and everything works, as it should. I have had no problem with this device. Keep in mind; this is a 3.3v device, even though some connections are 5.0 volt tolerant. Powering with voltages higher than 3.3 ~ 3.5 volts will certainly damage the device. There is an on board 5.0 to 3.3-volt regulator, which has limited current capability. So, power can be applied to the 5.0-v pin without damage. It might be best to order a Nucleo or Discovery board from ST Micro. I hope this helps. **Q: Can stm32f103c8t6 be sold separately?
