Once you use your pH meter for the first time, the tip of the probe should be immersed in a solution of potassium chloride during long periods that you don't use the meter **Q: are these solutions NIST traceable ?** A: Not even close. They were off by 0.3 units. Completely worthless... **Q: Is the electrode glass? If the electrode solution is low can you add solution to it? If so what is the electode solution?** A: I don't believe so, it looks plastic but I don't want to tap on it or touch it as your not supposed to. I didn't do an analytical, double-blind study on it's accuracy as some others here apparently have. But I would say this. This set costs as little as half as much as the same products from name brand manufacturers. And even they have detractors claiming they aren't spot on either. I think there are always naysayers. And it clearly states the product is for students in the classroom, not for atomic scientists. So for those of us who have to budget these things as one more expense of our hydro setup when we ran out of money four expenditures ago, Innovating Science is a godsend. When I have more money, maybe I'll spend it. But for now, this works for me. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good Quality and Price *by on Reviewed in the United States 18 June 2017* Good quality, good price and fast delivery. I use these to calibrate a pH meter. They seem to be spot on and give consistent results. My desired accuracy is not that great +/- 0.25 on measurements but this seems to get my instruments to +/- 0.1.
