They are sturdy enough if they're taken care of. I keep them on my 'fridge & use them to help my 3rd grader learn the concept of fractions. They helped SO MUCH! Fractions shouldn't be taught in 2-dimension, on a piece of paper; it's just too difficult for kids to grasp the concept. But having manipulatives like these for the child to divide themselves helps them wrap their brain around how fractions work. Just tell the child to imagine the circles are pies to divide & the tape bars are candy bars to divide amongst their friends equally & it just clicks for them.
