Until it melted.I thought maybe it was a problem with the plug I was using, but no, the heater still works fine in the outlet it was plugged into.There is a huge design flaw in this plug that makes it unsafe for use in any household. The wire leads that connect to the relay on the board that does the switching are secured to the plug housing with plastic thread forming screws. These kinds of screws are acceptable and commonly used for holding plastic parts together, but they should never be used to fasten electric components together. Creepage in the plastic, along with the heat generated from the electrical resistance inherent in a US plug design ensures that these screws will loosen over time, the connections will become lose, the resistance will go up, and the plug will overheat and melt.What's the moral of the story? Electrical connectors need to be bonded together with solder or with machine screws.
