Review: The best drum dampeners I have found. - I have tried all the different types of drum dampeners on the market, as well as the usual DIY solutions, and these are, by far, the best dampeners I have found. They dampen the drum without "choking" the head. They are easy to put on and take off. They are adjustable, allowing you to get just the right amount of dampening for each individual drum. And, finally, they seem to be pretty durable as mine are holding up to almost daily use for the last several months and are no worse for the wear. They're not cheap, but they are worth the expense in my opinion! Review: Well worth it! - I love everything about this product! I have one for every drum, except the bass drum. I will admit that putting them on the drum can be a challenge at first, but it is easier than it seems. You have to place the split on the outer edge of the rim and slowly wiggle it on. It is very secure. You can adjust the length on the sides by using the tiny magnets to fold it in towards the middle. You Cannot attach it to a wooden rim! To overcome that, I just place it on the head. If you are a heavy hitter, it might bounce around on you, so experiment to see what works best for you. Do not store them in any position but flat. The material is leather and it will hold that previous shape. Personally, I keep them on the drums and store them in their cases that way. Or is it only for snares??** A: These are pretty much for any drums, although the M80 is probably best on a snare drum. They have smaller versions that work great on toms and would probably be great for timbales, too. **Q: Does this work on die-cast hoops?** A: Yeah, it’s pretty adjustable. It can β€œgrab” the hoop edge a few ways. **Q: Can this be mounted to a snare resonant/side head? Or just the batter?** A: Due to the design it kind of relies on gravity to keep the muffler working correctly and it attaches itself to the rim. I would say that it is best suited for β€œbatter side” only. **Q: Has anyone tried using 2 (two) of these on a snare drum? At church, we're trying to lower snare volume significantly & turn up the other mic'd items.** A: I think using a Big Phat Snare Drum Ring would accomplish this much better. It is a simple heavy "zero ring" type of thing which lowers and focuses the volume and attack of the drum. I hate moon-gels or other muffling devices that can stick to the inside of a drum case in transit.
