## Overview

The Extended ADC Shield by Mayhew Labs upgrades your Arduino with a 16-bit Linear Technology LTC1859 ADC, offering up to 100 ksps sampling speed and flexible input configurations (8 single-ended or 4 differential). It supports multiple voltage ranges (0-5V, 0-10V, ±5V, ±10V) and communicates via selectable 3.3V or 5V SPI levels. Complete with an Arduino library and example code, it’s designed for fast, accurate, and versatile data acquisition across all Arduino variants.

## Description

The Extended ADC Shield gives your Arduino the ability to measure extended voltage ranges with higher resolution and faster speed than the build in analog-to-digital converters. It has 8 single-ended or 4 differential inputs, or combinations of the two. The shield utilizes the Linear Technology LTC185x ADC and is available in 12-bit (LTC1857), 14-bit (LTC1858) , and 16-bit (LTC1859) versions. It interfaces with your Arduino over SPI along with a few additional control signals that can be mapped to any available digital IO pins. The shield, along with the provided library, will work with any Arduino hardware variant. Check out the user manual, schematic, and library with example code at the Mayhew Labs website to get started.

Review: Finally!!! - I have been waiting for shield like this for a long time... Something simple, with high resolution, with differential or single ended measurement modes, and a bipolar/unipolar 5v or 10v range. Perfect for most data acquisition needs. It's true that you can always buy your own ADC and slap it on a protoboard and write up a library, but this is much cleaner and way more simple. The library is very straightforward and easy to use. You can get up to 100khz sample rates on a single channel. Also, switching between channels is still pretty quick, not a 100khz for sure, but maybe 1khz? (I'm guessing based on what I saw in the terminal and am too lazy to go program a test right now =) ) Regardless, I can tell you that the aggregate sample rate is much better than the other low cost Arduino ADC retail products I have seen so far. Very pleased!
Review: Two Stars - ADC works fine. Causes problems outputting a signal. Very little support or tutorial online for troubleshooting. Would not recommend.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works exactly as expected.

I've had great results with this board, but be aware that if you use a YUN the Ethernet and USB connectors will interfere. You'll need to space the board up taller, or remove those connectors from the YUN, even with trimming the pins on the ADC board.
