Historically and geographically correct for the 1940's and '50's! Good Read!
I liked the book for the nostalgic content; unbelievably correct in detail that was so rewarding to relax into. No worries about some abrupt error of time and places; they were all there and what great fun because I grew up in St. Paul, MN and close to and in and out of that neighborhood and time. I could feel the cast shadows of the summertime leaves from the beautiful tree-lined streets as we rode our bikes and walked up and down between the House of Hope Presbyterian Church on Summit at Avon Street and all those wonderful destinations. Of course, the story line was perfectly strung through those old and dear streets, some of which were still brick in those days. We kids did get into some very interesting situations with the older folks who lived in those huge old homes; rocking horse on the porch, and the trees, the wonderful trees. I will read Stanley West's other novels; I sent this one to two old friends and cohorts, snooping and visiting as did our heroine in this novel!

You really want to find Laura Buggs! Nostalgic and entertaining.
Thoroughly enjoy West's books. This one is my least favorite, but considering that all the others I've read are five star plus still makes this one an excellent read. Characters come alive and you can feel and smell those school hallways and classrooms. Another enjoyable experience in St. Paul.

This was a great book. The best part was that the author is a middle aged man but gets completely inside of the head of a 17 year old girl. Living in Mpls, it was fun to see how the streetcar system in the late 40's was used in St Paul. There were some surprises in the book and "Laura" herself was a very nice kind girl.

Excellent read
Great #2 follow-up novel to Until They Bring The Streetcars Back. Looking forward to West's 3rd in series, Growing an Inch.

Great Local Book
This book was written in the style of a 17 year old girl. I really felt myself drawn into her life. We read this for our book club and it was one of the few books that everyone really liked.

Four Stars
Certainly not as great as Blind Your Ponies, but West's books are always a good read.
