The MG30 fewer footswitches than the GP200 (note it does have an extra 2 switch breakout box) , the GP200 has more I/O flexibility and for live use would probably suit some better. The MG-30 has more flexibility in the routing of effects, including some parallel options and 3 mic positions for the IR cab section. The 3 scene options per patch make up for the reduced footswitch count. Both are excellent value for money, the MG30 has fewer models, but I'd rather have fewer excellent ones and more flexibility. Both lack a decent poly pitch shifter, my very old Johnson J station has dated in it's amp modelling, but did have a great pitch shifter. With these units, try before you buy if you can, it's hard to go wrong, but what works for you is going to be a personal thing, you can get great (and bad) sounds out of both. The MG30 has some deep options, but not everyone is going to want to spend time crafting patches. The unit is well made, the editing software is fairly quick and easy to get going. The drums are a bit naff, the GP200 has better, but still more useful than a metronome. Looper requires some mastering, but works well. USB routing is flexible, easy to jam along to your favourite YouTube tracks. Firmware update did take a while, I hope there are more updates in future that add more effects. The unit is well built and looks like it will take some punishment if regular gigging. The software for me is the best part of the package making it really simple to dial in any settings for the amo / cab / effects in your Mac or PC with a huge range of options. Like all pieces of kit you need to spend some time with it to get the best out of it but after playing around for a few hours, watching some YouTube guys you really get a feel of the software and how it adjusts the sounds. If you are looking for your first modelling pedal you can’t go wrong with the NUX and don’t thing this is a β€˜home use toy’ because it is much more than that.
