It turns out replacing your broken garage door handle is more complicated than you might think--no fault of the product. Some things to think about are that if your original outside handle had threaded sleeves for the bolts running on either side of the 516 inch square shaft, then the holes in your door are going to be too large for the screws sent with this handle. Second, you might want to look and see if the cable handling mechanism on the inside of your garage door will allow a 5/16 inch shaft to pass through it. Mine did not and it looks like the only way to get a replacement is to order a whole lock kit for around $30 so I am just going to have handles that don't unlatch the door for now. I have an automatic opener so that will be fine. Be aware that this product depends on the cable and latches you already have to lock your door. Using everything but baling wire and chewing gum, I was able to use the front and back of this handle and have it held firmly in place with the little pin that goes through the shaft and handle on the inside and a self-tapping garage door bolt I already had. The screws sent with this product may not be sufficient if your application isn't compatible.
