The original serial lead was mislaid and I'm glad to say this lead was a prefect substitute. With the added benefit of a more modern USB connector. The Powerchute software immediately recognised the UPS and everything appears to be hunky-dory, with the addition of a new pair of sealed lead acid batteries to give my UPS a new lease of life. I cannot stress how important it is to regularly check the charge status of the batteries, by performing a self-test at least once a month. Failing batteries place a high strain on the charging circuit and will cause an 'overload' failure of the device.
