Its rubber-like thermoplastic grip absorbs impact, making it perfect for extended sparring sessions, theatrical use, and HEMA training. Lightweight yet durable, this UK-made sword offers customizable parts and low maintenance, delivering professional-grade performance at an accessible price. ## Description The blades are designed to flex in the last one-third of their length towards the tip, allowing for much safer thrusting than with conventional wooden wasters or shinai. The blade/tang joint is reinforced by a high tensile steel rod running along the full length of the handle, so removing the handle flex typically associated with plastic training swords. These synthetic-bladed swords also provide an excellent option for Theatrical use, being inherently safer than steel or aluminum. The variety of interchangeable parts offered by Red Dragon also provides an economical means to create many different styles of sword on a single blade. The ball shaped quillon finials and rounded pommels of the longsword and single-hand sword are designed for sparring safety, as are the pommel and basket of the basket-hilt sword. The grips are manufactured from a rubber-like thermoplastic elastomer, designed to absorb the impact of strikes and to provide a tight fit on the tangs. These synthetic-bladed swords also provide an excellent option for Theatrical use as well. ## Features - Safe Sparring Practice - Silver Blade - Made In The U.K - Material Name:100-percent-cotton-jersey ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B007KKDGEK | | Best Sellers Rank | #403,320 in Sports & Outdoors ( See Top 100 in Sports & Outdoors ) #643 in Martial Arts Swords | | Blade Length | 97 centimeters | | Blade Material | Polypropylene (PP) | | Blade Material Type | Polypropylene (PP) | | Brand | RED DRAGON | | Brand Name | RED DRAGON | | Customer Reviews | 4.4 out of 5 stars 283 Reviews | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00615642015475 | | Hand Orientation | Ambidextrous | | Handle Material | Thermoplastic,Plastic,Steel | | Included Components | Sparring Longsword | | Item Dimensions L x W | 3.94"L x 4.72"W | | Item Type Name | Synthetic Sparring Longsword - Silver Blade | | Item Weight | 2 pounds | | Manufacturer | CAS HANWEI | | Manufacturer Part Number | PR9012 | | Model Number | PR9012 | | Number of Items | 1 | | Product Style | Modern | | Style | Modern | | UPC | 615642015475 | | Unit Count | 1 Ounce | | Warranty Description | Limited | ## Product Details - **Blade Length:** 97 centimeters - **Blade Material:** Polypropylene (PP) - **Brand:** RED DRAGON - **Handle Material:** Thermoplastic,Plastic,Steel - **Style:** Modern ## Images ![Red Dragon Armoury Synthetic Sparring Longsword, Silver - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/517wM9N8+AL.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: has anyone been affected by the chemicals as stated in the legal disclaimer?** A: A few things to understand there: 1) That disclaimer is for a CA law that requires retailers to disclose if a product contains "significant exposure" to products that cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. 2) the term "significant exposure" is not defined. At all.. So most businesses just slap a prop 65 warning on basically everything containing any quantity of one of about 900 chemicals on the CA list of chemicals covered by prop 65. 3) most prop 65 warnings do not specify under what circumstances a chemical is harmful. In this case, probably only if ingested; or inhaled as a result of, say, sanding or grinding. 4) I live in CA. These warnings are everywhere, for damn near everything. You can safely ignore them 99.9%+ of the time. **Q: Does it come with a sheath?** A: Unfortunately no. **Q: What is the exact length of this Practice Sword?** A: The blade length is 38 inches (3' 2"). The length of the entire sword is a little over 48 inches (4'). **Q: can the hilt and guard be removed?** A: Yes the guard and grip can be removed and replaced. In fact someone used to make a stainless steel guard, but I haven't been able to buy it because they don't always show up or out of stock. I've replaced my grips at least once. ## Frequently Bought Together - Red Dragon Armoury Synthetic Sparring Longsword, Silver - Red Dragon Armoury Synthetic Single Hand Sparring Sword - Silver Blade - Red Dragon Armoury Synthetic Bastard Sparring Sword-Silver Blade PR9042 Synthetic Bastard Sparring Sword-Silver Blade --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.pt/products/3326175-red-dragon-armoury-synthetic-sparring-longsword-silver](https://www.desertcart.pt/products/3326175-red-dragon-armoury-synthetic-sparring-longsword-silver) --- *Product available on Desertcart Portugal* *Store origin: PT* *Last updated: 2026-10-17*
