    Great basic, no-frills MK

This is my 3rd Eastern Times keyboard purchase, the first two being Tomoko87s - this Turbot came with the Tomoko(?) logo, not the Turbot logo shown in the picture. Where my first 2 came with Switch Master blue switches, this one came with Outemu switches. The click sounds slightly different from my keypad with Cherry MX blues, but I'd say I like the tactile feel a little more - it's more notable, but less abrupt on actuation compared to the Cherry blue switch. Functionally, they all work well and problem free. For the price, these are excellent keyboards and look nicely minimalistic, IMO and it has some heft to it. If you want to see what the fuss is in mechanical keyboards without diving off the deep-end, this is a good place for a typist or budget gamer. I'd prefer a different switch (black) for gaming as blues feel slow to me, but at the $25 - $30 price range, it seems to be all blues. I have a site bookmarked for testing NKRO and these ET boards pass. The only con for the keyboard is the cheap, pad-printed, thin ABS keycaps. The printing will start to wear off very quickly. Luckily, there are many inexpensive keycap options for ~$22-25 PBT keycaps or even $20 if you want to torture yourself and go with thick PBT blanks, only to find out that you can't type unless you don't think about typing.Having been used to full-sized keyboards and having tried down to 68%s, I find TKL to be an ideal size (completely subjective) and have separate keypads for when I need to work in Excel. If you're wondering what the MK fuss is about, need a (or another) mechanical keyboard, or just want to play with blue switches, this board provides wallet-friendly access to any of those goals.I'll probably be back for another soon.* 7/14/17 Edit *I ended up buying another for my travel bag. This one also came with Outemu blues - white housing. Someday, I'll tear one of these 3 down to replace the switches and will post another update.

    I like it BUT [edited]

I gotta say, this keyboard has grown on me.I ordered this to replace a full sized Gateway OEM keyboard that was dying. (I didn't need a numpad) When this arrived, I was quite skeptical. It just seemed too small, etc. I tend to hate all new keyboards at first because they are unfamiliar. This is for light programming, and heavy web browsing and it lives up to all my expectations. For a cheap and basic keyboard that's not flashy this should do fine.Edit: the keys are wearing off already. I've had it less than two months, and I don't spend much time at my PC these days.

    Good entry board

Pros: I was pleasantly surprised by the solid build quality. There is almost no board flex when typing and the plate is a good 1.5mm steel. The switches are Outemu, a lot cheaper than Cherry or even Gateron equivalents, but close enough in feel. For the price, these are a good reputable brand compared to other no-name Chinese switches (*cough cough* Switch Master). There are also too many screws holding the case together? There's 12 screws that make taking it apart a pain in the butt, but it's not going to fall apart on you. The PCB also uses uses nice large holes for the pins, almost 2mm wide, that make desoldering and replacing the switches easy (Cherry switch pins are 1.5mm wide while Outemu are only 1mm). The stablizers are surprisingly tight, and don't rattle except the spacebar, which is fixed by a few strips of tape.Neutral: Blue switches are a little too high pitched in my opinion compared to my buckling springs Model M, but some people like that *shrugs*.Cons: The keycaps. These are your generic super-thin ABS, pad-printed keycaps that will wear off in a few weeks. I can't fault the keyboard for that though, considering its price. However, if you are looking for an upgrade after this, then the first thing to do is look for some ~$25 thick PBT keycaps (I recommend NKPC). It will make a night and day difference to your typing experience. The thin plastic case also makes the switches sound a little pingy. Soldering quality isn't great but its functional. Conclusion: This is a good choice for a first foray into MKs.*disclaimer: I purchased this when it was on sale for under $30*
